Next-M is a design strategy project for Midea, a leading domestic appliance brand in China. The project explored the next generation VBL (visual brand language) that could seamlessly apply across Midea's diverse product range, including the fridge, hood, oven, stove, and rice cooker.

One of the key directions led by the design team was the exploration of aluminum craftsmanship, focusing on a seamless, one-piece aluminum manufacturing process for a premium, minimalist look. To enhance user experience, motor-driven mechanisms were integrated to hide functional details, such as the handles of the fridge and oven, while gesture sensing was introduced to activate the hood vent, keeping the appliances clean and minimal when not in use. The goal was to create a cohesive, elegant design language that elevates the visual identity of Midea’s products while improving usability and maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic.
